With the Memorial Day holiday just around the corner, we could use a reminder about urban summer recreational options. While rollin' with the top down or BBQ-ing on the beach seem to be West Coast-centric hot weather activities, city-dwelling East Coasters tend to prefer malt liquor or cocktail sipping on the stoop.
During a discussion of summertime in Brooklyn, The Professor alerted me to a seasonal drink recipe guaranteed to cool you down after a hot afternoon spent sitting on the stoop:
Thug Passion (Tupac's favorite drink)
1 shot of alize
1 shot of hennessey cognac
If reading that doesn't make you feel nauseated, here are a few more urban-themed summer drink recipes:
1 Tblsp of 2% milk
1/2 cup of Mad Dog
a little vodka
and the foam from a shook up 22oz of Olde E
Get an expensive Snifter glass
fill it with Olde English malt liquor
drop an olive in the glass
Friday Night Sauce
2 shots of Hot Damn
1 shot of hot sauce
3 shots of Code Red Mountain Dew
(sip and let it sizzle)
1/4 oz. Kahlua
1/4 oz. Metaxa
1/4 oz. Tequila
1/4 oz. Rye Whiskey
Layer in a shot glass
1 bottle of (cheap swill) Vodka.
3 BIG bags of Skittles.
2 water bottles (one big, one small).
Sort Skittles into 2 separate piles: one for the red, orange and yellow, one for the green.
Eat the purple while you work.
Split the vodka into the 2 water bottles
Place green Skittles into small bottle
Place rest of Skittles into big bottle
Let stand for 2 days
1 shot of tequila
1 shot of 7up

If sweet liquor ain't your thing, stick to the classic 40 oz malt beverages. Plenty of lip service is paid to the sultan of the stoop (pictured, left):
