I am so unhip. What does "props" mean? I guess it is slang for praise but where does it come from? Out of the blue or does it have some sort of root?

And "peeps" instead of people (plural). I guess that is a hip hop thing. Like props?

Cheers,

Hey Lipwak - Yes, props is slang for praise, specifically, "proper respect", as in this Digital Underground song: http://digital-underground.letras.terra.com.br/letras/10931/

Also worthy of note, Scharpling and Wurster have a new column in Harp magazine (February 2006) entitled Not So Great Moments in Rock. Enjoy.
