Recently, while surfing the web for more information about Amelia Earhart's accident with a time-traveling guinea pig, I came across Songs To Wear Pants To, the website of singer/songwriter Andrew from Canada, who offers to write and record songs based on requests by his readers. He'll even do it for free if he likes the request and has enough time, but if you want it longer than 71 seconds, you'll have to pay him a few bucks. Most of the songs are on the website as free MP3 downloads, here are three randomly chosen examples.
Request: It's for a student film. (I'm an animation student at Sheridan College, in Oakville, Ontario.) It would play with the climax of my film, which involves a guinea pig being transported back in time where he slams into Amelia Earhart's airplane which then spirals out of control and explodes unexpectedly.
MP3 link: [ Song 192 - Ballad of Smashing Into a Plane ]
Request: Could you do a disjointed waltz of any noises you can get out of a car? Like, only use a car as your instrument. Oh, and you can use an egg slicer, too, the kind with all of the wires. No words please!

Request: Dude. Iambic pentameter, in 7/4 time. I would bow down to your pwnzorness.

Many more request-based songs here and here, and don't forget to submit your own requests if you have any good ones.

I *love* SongsToWearPantsTo; I must have about 50 of them in my iTunes. He's sort of like a less folksy Jonathan Coulton for hire. Andrew also makes his own music under the names Suture Sound, Spokesman and The Speech Bubbles (perhaps an obsession with names that start with 'S'?).
