Acapulco Rodriguez, host of the fine Acapulco Sweat program, will be DJing a record release party for the mighty Talibam! on Tuesday, July 10th at Zebulon Cafe (258 Wythe Ave, Brooklyn), which will also feature performances from Phillip Gayle and Brown Wing Overdrive (recent guests on Brian Turner's show).
WFMU's Jace Clayton (aka DJ/Rupture) penned an excellent overview of that most mysterious of electronic musicians, Muslimgauze (aka Bryn Jones). If his massive and ever-multiplying catalog has seemed too daunting to approach, this article in a godsend for newcomers: there are now no fewer than 180 Muslimgauze releases, with 50 of them having been released after his death in 1999. Bill Zebub (of Vortex of Chaos fame) has a new film that will be screened at the Fantasia Film Festival
(Montreal) on July 10th. Stuart "Feedback" Andrews says: "Someone has finally lambasted the notoriously inept no-budget, straight-to-DVD-R horror flick. Mr. Finewine and Dave the Spazz will spin the late night sounds at The Hook (18 Commerce St., Red Hook, Brooklyn) following the Young Jessie, Mighty Hannibal, Dansettes show on July 13th.
