Magik Markers: Getting Oozy

For everyone expecting the next Markers' record Boss (produced by Lee Ranaldo and out on Ecstatic Peace in September) to be more of the same free freakrock haze and destruction, surprise. Check out their new video "Taste", a full turn-around to some seriously slinky n' bewitching popadelicness, one of the more pleasant songs this side of, I dunno, maybe the last time we heard an Opal record. Looking forward to hearing/seeing the latest incarnation in action, which I hear has added keyboardist Julie Tomlinson to the lineup. Seems like these days this band is constantly in flux around the central core of Pete Nolan and Elisa Ambrogio and if I may advise: should they be looking to add any more people to their ranks this guy seems fairly free these days. And hopefully his contribution to the band's sound would employ this thing. (Links for video via chuckfarnham, and CTSB)

Also: Live at the Flywheel 3/31/05 (You Tube), Live on WFMU 10/05 (Real Audio)

Comments

maybe Magic Markers ought to join him!

I suspect this video was created out of found home video tapes.

I like the usual dashed-off guitar squall plenty, but crafted studioery is a more than welcome change of pace. I'm looking forward to it.
