Max Roach

Maxroach1978 The most well rounded tribute one could ask for in three hours, courtesy Doug Schulkind/Give the Drummer Some this morning. The inclusion of Brother Ah's "Love Piece" from Sound Awareness especially welcome, even in excerpted form (Doug actually did an earlier tribute to Max on his May 4th show that included the whole version). Today's show also notable for including an interview Schulkind did with Roach himself in 1988. NY Times obit here.
