Vicki Bennett - Two gigs are coming up that will interest listeners in London. We really recommend buying tickets well in advance for either or both of these, rather than risking turning up on the night of the show and there being none left. On October 23rd, People Like Us will perform a series of sets at Touch 25 Live - London Atmospheres 2. Live at The Bedford Arms, Balham, London.
Looking further ahead to November 22nd, People Like Us & Ergo Phizmiz are pleased to announce that they will be doing their first live gig together in London, as one of the three ensembles selected by Christian Marclay to do a live soundtrack to his film "Screen Play". This is part of The Wire magazine's 25th Anniversary series, and preparations for this show are already underway. Tickets and venue information available here.
John Allen - John's band Maxi Geil! & Playcolt perform at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St., NYC) on Monday October 8th. Since beginning life as the soundtrack to one of singer and artist Guy Richards Smit's notorious feature-length video operas, Maxi Geil! & PlayColt have unexpectedly evolved into a modern rock presence whose anthemic arena-disco has been putting feet on the dance floor from New York to London. Seriously. Just ask Vicki and Ergo.
Dave the Spazz - In addition to his weekly Sunday DJ gig at Union Pool, Spazz will stand mightily astride the decks at Club Midway on October 30th (25 Ave. B, NYC), from 10 PM - 2 AM. And he'll also be swinging from the rafters in Southpaw's Down South Lounge on October 13th during WFMU's Free Music Series concert with Oneida, Simply Saucer, Alan Vega, and Old Time Relijun. Wow!
