David Lynch sets you straight

I could listen to David Lynch talk all day, but this little clip is one of my favorites because in just 30 seconds he sums up the sad evolution of our culture in general. Or rather, the idea of watching movies on your phone.

This is a bit different from what he said in his book, however.

Note: this clip is one of many in the great interview segments on the Inland Empire DVD, but we can thank the YouTube share factory for this special commercial version.

...and yet his words and image have been condensed into youtube style file format...sadly ironic.

i totally agree with him though, although i extend my distaste into the internet video phenomena as well. i'd much rather watch an animated gif file.

ART CAN ONLY BE VIEWED IN MUSEMS

NEWSPAPERS ARE THE ONLY VALID SOURCE OF NEWS

But he is free to adopt digital video creation technologies that produce low quality product. Because it's cheaper and easier. It's just that no one else should.

People still believe in David Lynch's TM Quackery? I suppose nobody remembers Doug Henning--or the idiocy of the Maharishi Maharesh Yogi (the old fool on the hill). I wouldn't recommend teaching children about tm anymore than teaching them anything Lynch spews. His movies once were fun--but he's nothing but a windbag.

He's talking about viewing a work on an iphone that was meant for the screen. clearly, Lynch is not against other platforms and in fact has been making stuff for "other screens" for years. that and his embrace of the digital over celluloid give this hilarious bit all the more credibility.

i think he has my throat thing

it's like hearing rap or hip hop over cellphone speakers… just amazing!

"His movies once were fun" writes some blowhard upthread. Ah, yes, who can forget the happy good times of "Eraserhead," "Blue Velvet," or "Wild at Heart?"

if you close your eyes, you can almost picture mr. rogers talking...

He hasn't been relevant in a long time, but he's right anout the phone thingy. Phones are for yappin' on. I do like his hair and funny sweater/collar, however.

who's david lynch?

what's an iphone?
