WFMU Off the Air (by Lou D'Antonio and Liz Berg)
Fearing an Upsala College takeover and feeling general disgust with the demise of the counterculture, WFMU staffers shut down the station. DJ Lou D’Antonio reads a farewell speech prepared by Vin Scelsa, and the two sign off by playing “Wooden Ships” by Crosby, Stills, and Nash (real audio). Upsala keeps the station dark for ten months. August 26, 1969.

I love these tidbits of student culture of ye olden days. No one has issued a manifesto, installed an earthwork or staged a good old fashioned "happening" in quite a while. What do you guys have up your sleeves?

That was 8 days after Woodstock. Not sure if there was any connection ("general disgust with..."), but thought I'd point that out.

Hmm, great illustration by Wayno. Did this ever appear on any FMU merch?
