Any version even remotely involving UB40 has been justly ignored (sorry Chrissie Hynde, but that was a serious misstep).
I would like to plead with the entire world to please not do any more Valentine tributes or karaoke versions of this song. You are NOT silly and wacky just because you know the lyrics to perhaps the most overplayed pop ditty of the 60s. Also, please no more homemade fan vids about television couples. Or your children. Or pets. Or anything, really.
* Most lyrics sites say "a pot", though some think "a plot", and most cover versions say "a lot". I don't have a Sonny Bono songbook that can confirm or deny the actual line.
They sang it at the end of their TV show every week. Sonny sang "pot" every time.
