Rex has one of the greatest voices.

Of all the FMU DJs I've met, Rex was the only one who matched, in real life, my mental image of him based on his voice. Even better, this is more or less what I imagined his pad would be like too.

Rex is one suave fuck. I love the early Ronald Coleman look. Pure class. Only one question: who dusts that place?

Reinforce those shelves!

I am seething with jealousy. Forget the knick nacks and records. Look at that spacious kitchen, that non-shoebox-antfarm layout, that dog that doesn't go berserk barking whenever anyone comes in, three things I wish my apartment had. Rex has held onto his status as one of my cultural heroes for years, and this cements it.

Rex needs to saddle up and head out to the west coast for a once in a lifetime tiki sale at Trader Joes. As shown here.

Before seeing this clip, my wife would frequently harangue me about my uncontrollable tendency to acquire vinyl records. Now it's a whole different story. I think this video saved my marriage.

Now I wish I hadn't divested myself of most of my midcentury doodads to garner a bit more calming atmosphere. When you go for it, you just gotta go all the way.

Rex is the one WFMU DJ who didn't look like what I expected. There's some other NYC hipster who is spotted with the WFMU crowd (also with salt & pepper hair, but with glasses) whom I always thought was Rex, until I actually met Rex.
