Like a Sect Machine: Warren Jeffs, Singer/Songwriter
Warren Jeffs, imprisoned "President and Prophet, Seer and Revelator" of the polygamy-prone FLDS Church, must be verklempt over all the baby moms dramz going down at his Yearning For Zion compound in Eldorado, TX.
Yet despite his conviction as an accomplice to rape (not to mention that crazy connubial bed his sect kept in the YFZ temple), Jeffs still knows that the way to a pastel pinafored child bride's soul is through song. Who wouldn't wanna "keep sweet" after hearing the lilting refrains of....
"Yearning For Zion" by Warren Jeffs (MP3)
(Many thanks to Joey Gardner!)

This just cries out for a death metal remake.

I've met and worked with LDS folks. Using that as a benchmark for creepiness (and believe you me that's quite a standard for being creepy) I am still reluctant to apply my creepometer to these folks for fear I'd have to order up a new mainspring.

Cheesis K. Reist! Is there a religion out there that doesn't actively pursue or hypocritically engage in subjugation? I've yet to encounter one.

I haven't felt this dirty in awhile. I can actually feel the filth smacking my face.

Feed your head a little background into the craziness. Here's a documentary that points out just how far from reality it all is. -- Listener Katya Oddio, LDS survivor

LDS started out as one man's way to disguise his boundless libido in the trappings of religion. "No, honey, I HAVE to get as many wives as possible. God says so.", and eventually, they recanted, but some were not going to give up on polygamy so easy, which led to today's nightmare situation. Not only do you have to have at least 3 wives in the FLDS, there are no restrictions on age or close relative marriage. Which has led to an extremely high incedence of a specific type of severe mental retardation. And no, that isn't what's behind the creepy, trot em out before the press Stepford Wives, endlessly repeating "We just want our children back, our children are everything to us." That's just old-fashioned brainwashing.

I tend to wonder, if polygamy weren't illegal would they have more people doing it, in that case would we see less of a problem with the birth defects?
