Jumpin' J (7:37)
It wouldn't be summer without hot rodders and antique car enthusiasts jamming the parking lots of donut shops and ice cream stands. In tribute to all their hard work, here's an introduction to drag racing, courtesy of the Revell toy company, circa 1969. Rick takes his skeptical coworker George to the track, and before you know it, George is hooked on drag racing. There's plenty of good ambient sound thrown in to the mix.
Whether this was a mail-in promotion or a record packed with a model, I can't say. It's a kids' record, so there's some roughness on the surface, but nothing to get in the way of your enjoyment. The announcer really gets into at the end, and I do believe that a bit of this audio was sampled for Ministry's Jesus Built My Hotrod.
