4-Star Fall & Christmas Campaign 1960 (4:30)
It's just not Christmas without Bing Crosby crooning those holiday classics. But what about the rest of the Crosby clan? Here's Bing's sons swinging and talking their way through a campaign launch single for Triple S Blue Stamps.
Before there were frequent flier miles, shoppers could collect trading stamps every time they shopped. For each dollar you spent, you got some stamps. Save them up in a handy collection book, and you could trade them in at a store for free merchandise, trips, or discounts. Triple-S Blue competed with the much more popular S&H Green Stamps, and nearly every home had a stash of stamps somewhere. There's even a Brady Bunch episode about the kids cashing in their stamps.
The Crosby boys warble out three versions of the Triple S song, including one with a smattering of Jingle Bells and one where they're trying to find the right vocal key. Like most older 45s, this is on the crackly side, but it's still a fun trip to Christmas past.
