Today's offering is a rarely heard Hawaiian 45, featuring a locally flavored Twelve Days of Christmas. This was taped off the air in Chicago more than 40 years ago. Other than subsequent broadcasts on this same local show, I've never heard this record broadcast anywhere. I'm not generally very fond of this song, but this version is wonderful.

Which local show?

Interesting in that "tutu" is also used in Hawaii as a term for "grandmother".

WFMT's "The Midnight Special". It hasn't been the same (or worth listening to, imo) since the original two hosts retired (I believe one has since died), but for 35 + years, it was the best show in Chicago radio.

If this is of any help, I have the 45. It's on Mahalo Records (Mahalo 1000) and is B/W Kanaka Christmas.

Saw this performed by 3-4 year olds in December. A Hawaiian standard, always great!
