Fake music for fake childhood memories .. from the Synthetic Plastic Co. of Newark NJ.

Robert Goodman

I have the real thing: a Little Golden Record of Jack Mercer's "I'm Popeye the Sailor Man".

I will see your Mercer and raise you a Costello:

Oh gosh.

This is would sound a lot better if it were on my old Fisher Price LP player.

I love the Popeye Little Golden Record with Wimpy's "Hamburger Dream" great song

Nightcap Popeye is a pirate!

Ha! I sympathize with the 'overlap' with the 365 days---as a fellow writer here on the blog- I have to keep on my toes to stay ahead of the very thorough DJs around here! A lot of us love those 'rip-off' kid's things, they're often better done than the 'official' records, so one has to give 'em a shot.

I used to know a guy who was "licensed" to draw Popeye. Like if you wanted an illustration of Popeye for something, you had to call Eddie. Sort of like being a bonded locksmith, I guess.

License Farm

I had and may indeed still have this EP. I've not listened to it in at least 25 years. I think it may have even bored me then; I barely remember more than the first few bars.

Phil Ketchum

Just try to get this song out of your head!
