i'm a little sick of the naive-cutesy-doodle trend too, but this one was done pretty well, is pretty charming, and is consistant of her other work.

I agree, it's an overused and lazy style in most cases and my boredom and bullshit detectors pop up immediately. Lockhart's work stands above the rest by being inventive and strange.
