On Sound and Safe, live from Solar 1, Trent welcomes guests Maluca (pictured) and Araabmuzik and will also screen some videos honoring key women of hip-hop. Maluca, born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan, released the single "El Tigeraso" via Mad Decent. She will perform with a dance crew; drum machine prodigy Araabmuzik, who worked on the Dipset track "Salute," provides beats live. It will all happen in a solar-powered broadcast at Solar 1, on the East River at 23rd Street. Come by in person, or listen on 9/6 from 9 PM to midnight.

People Like Us will be joined by collage artist Gwilly Edmondez, who has pioneered the use of a dictaphone to record and manipulate sound in his compositions. He will reveal which 21st-century pop songs are already ahead of their time, and chat about myriad other stuff. Tracks from Gwilly's album Kitchen Shrink are available on the Free Music Archive. Hear more on Do or DIY with People Like Us, 9/8 from 7 to 8 PM.

On Wm. Berger's show Thursday night Chaos*Majik (aka Todd Brooks, aka Todd Pendu), solo electronics artist and the driving force behind the Pendu collective, will perform a continuous 45-minute electronic suite prepared especially for the broadcast. He uses a variety of small sound-making devices, many of them homemade or home-modified, including a resonator stimulated by light to create sound that mirrors the movement of a candle flame. Todd performed on WFMU last November as half of the duo Ghost Moth -- archive here. Hear him again this week on Wm. Berger Presents My Castle of Quiet, 9/10 from midnight to 3 AM.

Billy Jam and Passaic River anthologist Wheeler Antabanez will celebrate Dirty Jersey with "Throw the Needle in the River," an homage to the state's gritty, polluted side and the abiding national fascination therewith. Special guests will include Passaic River lifer Bill Rapp, graffiti writers Snow and Demerock, editors Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman of Weird NJ, and Kearny's (and WFMU's) own X-Ray Burns. Put the Needle on the Record is on Friday 9/10, from 3 to 6 PM.

Finally, Terre T airs a live set from the legendary Oblivians on Saturday, recorded when they stopped by NYC in July for a brief reunion. Another reunion show is slated for late September at GonerFest in the band's hometown of Memphis. If you can't make it there, listen to the Cherry Blossom Clinic on 9/11 from 3 to 6 PM for some serious garage-punk thrills.
