Yes, you have read that correctly! On October 27th, the King of Endicott, New York himself, Gary Wilson, will be appearing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Gary released the awesome Lisa Wants to Talk To You in 2008, and will be following it with this year's greatly anticipated Electric Endicott. He will promote the record on the show, and most likely offer one of the strangest interactions of guest and host since Crispin Glover's appearance on David Letterman's show in the early 90's. If anything, this appearance should be a blast!
I asked Gary a few questions about the appearance, which he kindly replied to. Check them out after the jump!
Alex Goldstein: Are you a fan of Jimmy Fallon's program?
Gary Wilson: Enjoy the show. Cool musical guests.
How did you end up being on it?
I believe Girlie Action Media, which is doing publicity for my new album "Electric Endicott" was instrumental in this. Plus Questlove knows of me through Stones Throw Records.
Did you ever think that your act would make it onto Late Night television in the days of Johnny Carson?
I enjoyed the Johnny Carson show. Never thought my avant garde style was really suited for Johnny Carson but with the new breed of late night television hosts, they are much more open to modern rock.
Will you bring any of the performance art aspects of your stage show to Jimmy Fallon? Any flour?
I was told to tame it down so not sure how far I can go. I will be sitting in with the Roots throughout the show (doing my songs).
Wow! That sounds great, I'm really looking forward to it!
Thanks Alex.
Here's a video of Gary Wilson performing a few songs in 2006. Man, I am looking forward to seeing this sandwiched between Jimmy Fallon and Carson Daly!
The songs performed in the video are:
1. Newark Valley
2. Groovy Girls Make Love At The Beach
3. I Wanna Lose Control
4. You Think you Really Know Me

I was at that NorthSix show, it kicked ASS. I would pay good money for Gary to do his act on "regular" TV for "regular" people who have never seen anything like him. True, headscratching kookiness. Rock on Gary!

sadly, the final result was him singing into and out of commercial breaks. not too much airtime.
