Todays Comic Supplement spotlights three now-obscure 1940s entertainers, as depicted in the magazines Doc Savage ( v.2 #4, June 1943), Picture News ( #10, February 1947), and Melody Lane ( #01, Feb-Mar 1950).
The personalities we will learn about are Fanny Brice, Margaret Whiting and Johnny Desmond. These gripping TRUE comics are unrated and absolutely REAL, so get set for a thrill-packed comic book read - right after the jump!
Our second feature is from Picture News #10, with a cover by Harry Anderson, and the story itself is an early comic book job drawn by the amazing Bernard Krigstein. First we'll see the inside front cover, which describes the issue itself:
And for our third and final serving - here comes Margaret Whiting again (!?), from Melody Lane number one, with an unknown artist and writer, and cover art by Bob Oksner.
Watch out for the next WFMU Comic Supplement for more comic book masterpieces of both the true and fictional variety. Until then, stay sick, friends!
