still in shock over the dramatic change made on ny's wcbs fm. happened to be listening at work at the time of the 'takeover'. it was really weird and i kinda thought something really bad had actually happened at the station itself. on my way home from work, listening to the Beastie Boys i couldnt believe my ears, i thought i was losing it. well, i lost 101.1 on my car and home stereo, that is one station i will not be listening to anytime soon. goodbye to the only oldies station in ny,wow...creepy.makes me feel old and i am only 37!

The only time I really hear the radio is when my clock radio alarm goes off in the morning, and on my shower radio. I've found that LA's Jack station is about the perfect thing for those two applications. I actually like train wrecks, well this kind at least, and hearing "Blue Monday" segue into the one Eddie and the Cruisers hit is kind of funny to me, and I'm not jaded enough yet to not enjoy that sort of thing. My only complaint is that there are WAY too many Eagles and Eagles-related tunes in the playlist, and I pretty much hate or never need to hear again anything put out by anyone who was in the Eagles. Except Joe Walsh.

It's interesting to me that this has actually become a "new" format, because it reminds me of late 70's/early 80's FM radio in the Midwest, before stations became so genre oriented. I was in Chicago at the beginning of the year, and my friend and I were listening to some station that purported to "play whatever we want", which made us laugh because they were just serving different flavors of crap. I'm guessing this was a Jack station, I just didn't know I was hearing the newest trend. I'd say I enjoy The Jack about as much as the "Indie 103" station we have here, which plays almost exclusively major label bands. Anything with an expanded playlist is a step in the right direction, but I can't ever see major radio coming around to where I become a listener again.

This stupid Jack-shit form just took over Infinity Broadcasting's WJMK Radio in Chicago. They had been an oldies station, playing great music from the 60's & 70's, which thousands in this area loved! They also had great djs, who had morning trivia segments with prizes, and a "brown-bag lunch" call in request program. A lot of us here can't believe the takeover. I HATE IT!! It's a lot of noise, and a litle bit good music. I hope they put WJMK back on the air. It only streams on the Internet now.

Tom

They ruined the ONLY decent radio station in the NYC area!

Hey Jack, you Jack-ed off lots of listeners, hope your ratings go down the shitter.

I love the way you treated your DJ's, nothing like a last minute Jack-Off~!

Take your new format and stick it in your ass!

Jackoff!

It's like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" - they replaced good comforting music (WCBS FM 101.1 NYC) with pods - ipods.

I don't need some JACKass recording of a JACKass insulting me by saying "want the weather? look out the window."

Time to take back the music, people!
Who is John Galt?

Now that it is the Wacko Jacko station, I have removed 101.1 Wacko Jacko from all of my radios. My sons, 31 and 27 have also removed Wacko Jacko from their radios. Thank God for CD. I now play the oldies in my car on my ride to/from work. I enjoy it. I know many others who have taken Wacko Jacko station 101.1 and pissed on it.

Vic

I moved back to the am dial thanks to these jackoffs. I'm listening to WMTR 1250 AM. It's a good station but the signal isn't always the best. But it is what I want to hear. I'll pass on being jacked off.

pg

well i never thought i would see the day that radio turned robodic, wcbs fm 101.1 was a real station with real people whats next?

Ace

I can't believe I won't be hearing Cousin Brucie, Harry Harrison, and Don Ingrams anymore. Jack sucks. If I wanted to hear those songs, there's at least 5 other stations I could turn to that play *the same thing*.

R

Jack Radio reminds me of a story to dirty to even think about...I understand that even the "voice" was outsourced to some developing country.......R Pz

What makes the big guys behind "Jack" think that they will have more listeners? NEWS FLASH: This station sounds like most of the others on the air, except with less personality. Before, I was guaranteed to hear an oldies song, but where am I to go now? As a 19 year old, I've always believed that an oldies station would never be "too old" for listeners. According to the "brains" behind the new format, I am wrong.

I have such fond memories of CBS-FM over the years, and losing CBS-FM is like losing an old friend and a piece of New York.

Friday was "the day the music died..."

Let's hope someone (maybe XM or Sirius ?)
gets the whole CBS-FM gang together and
starts up the station again.

gail

I am so disappointed I can not hear Mickey on my way to work every day I can not tell you. This is a disgusting change, just when I found a good station again you do this! YUK!

christine

wow, where do we go from here? I can't believe there is no other oldies radio station in the NYC.There was just something comforting about the same dj's for the past 30 years, still on the radio. i grew up with them in the background of my life,my youth, my summers listening to 'Hot Fun in the Summertime' or any Beach Boys song, even 'Grease' tunes would put me in the nostalgic mood. The memories my parents would share with me about their youth and songs like 'in the still of the night'. Seems like bit by bit, all that is precious and sweet, like 'oldies' is being taken away by corporate greed and their dollar signs. I feel sad for my parents generation, i feel sad for alot of us that all feel the same disappointment. Through this happening,in a way, it shows me that i am not one of the only ones that love that era and enjoyed that station, all ages enjoyed it. I am going to miss cbs fm. what a shame. what a lousy way to start our summer....

On Friday night, I was driving my son to the store and I thought there was something wrong with the radio station. I kept switching to find CBSFM 101.1., I knew it did not sound like the oldies station, I always listen to. I am really going to miss CBS101.1. I DO NOT LIKE jack. I am switch to Jim Kerr and the MORNING SHOW!!!!!
You lost a loyal listner, but I guess you don't care. Hope your rating go in the shitter!!!!!

Zach

Seriously, what the hell? I have had CBSFM my entire life, and it's probably what helped shape my taste in music, more than anything else. I became a huge Monkees fan a few years back, too, and it was a huge thrill to be hearing Micky in the morning, and on my favorite station, taboot. Then, without warning some Jack ass/Jackass starts trying to sound all wisecracky-"We play what we want...This is JACK FM" and takes over. I was super confused as April 1 was way back, now, and otherwise hoped maybe it was a temporary setback with the station, but now the truth is out. WHY??? If we wanted to hear something sounding like an iPod shuffle, wouldn't we put on our own iPod shuffle, which features music we programmed, and thus know and like? I don't go to what I thought was my long favorite oldies station to hear The Spin Doctors' "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong"! In fact, I don't go anywhere for that! I hope our backlash will slap some sense into whatever execs thought this was a good idea.

Baby Bronx Woodie

As much as I kinda like the format, CBS-FM should have stayed the way it was! NYC sells out again! No "American Standards", No "50's, 60's and 70's". If I wanted "Jack" I woulda aksd for "Jack". Now what I get is "Jackoff" radio. I wonder.

Barbara

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS 'JACK'! BRING BACK MY OLDIE STATION WITH MY BELOVED DJ'S AND STAFF! WCBS FM 101.1 THE GREATEST IN THE WORLD!

Dominic

Jack radio on CBS-FM 101.1!!! When you take away something as simple as a radio station you take away peoples past, memories,
and comfort that keep us from being consumed by the ridiculous crap going on in the world today(LIKE JACK FM). I am 30 yrs old,
and grew up with the sounds of CBS FM during my whole life. All the sounds of the station vividly remind me of different points of my life and different instances that have occurred. Another thing taken away by a bunch of people who value nothing but the almighty dollar. I hope JACK chokes and dies!!!!!!!

Mady

I miss my DJ's. I know they worked off a play list too, but I liked the human interaction with the audience. Also I miss the weather and news too. If I want to listen to CD's they why bother listening to the radio. It's just not the same. Hopefully they'll see the error of this decision.

Robert

Cousin Brucie, Harry Harrison, and Don Ingram. These guys are the founding fathers of old New York radio (AM at least). Jacked. Fuck Jack and the Corporate assholes he rode in on. Broadcast radio is unlistenable in New York. Infinity radio bean counters should go sell ball bearings and leave Radio to those that know radio.
Fuck Infinity, and all corporate business school marketing majors.

tara

JACK TOTALLY SUCKS! IF I WANTED TO HEAR PINK AND THEN U2 I WOULD PUT MY OWN IPOD ON SHUFFLE! IT IS SO WRONG WHAT THEY DID TO ALL THE FAITHFUL LISTENERS AND THE DJS. IT MAKES YOU WONDER IF THEY HAVE SOME STOCK IN SAT RADIO AND TRYING TO GET ALL OF US TO SWITCH BY TAKING AWAY THE OLDIES!
P.S. I AM ONLY 27 AND NOT READY FOR A CRAFTSMATIC BED! WHAT HE SAID WAS VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO ALL THE LOYAL LISTENERS! FUCK THEM AND FUCK JACK!!

Roy Nicolosi

CBS FM its not all about the money..its an art form too..thanks for ruining my summer..maybe you guys should go try a different line of work like pumping cesspools...

Barbara VanDenBerg

Craftmatic beds?? What rock is CBS FM living under? The Boomers still are the largest population with the most money, a background in protesting and we now have the time to fight back!

I now have a list of CBS FM advertisers to boycott. Hit them in the pocket!

They are:
Samsung
Monster.com
visitPA.com
Mercedes Benz
Valley National Bank
NJ lottery
Englewood Hospital
Holy Name Hospital
Geico
AAmco
Lincoln
Finlandia
Home Goods
National Geographic

Thank you for listening,
Barbara VanDenBerg
