And speaking of sound effects, the greatest chant on earth is The Haka (mp3), the hundred-year old Maori rugby chant of the New Zealand All Blacks team. Hakas also refer to the stance that players take while doing The Haka, and recently, mystery Hakas have been popping up around New Zealand. And oh yeah, The Haka is patented, so don't get any ideas, you rugby teams. Or DJs.
The bloke has an ugly tongue!!!

Yes, the Maori haka is very important to the Maori culture and to all New Zealanders. The All Blacks rugby team have vastly improved the way they perform the haka compared to the early eighties when it was crunge material.
The new haka - Kapa o pango haka - is performed for "special" test matches but the predominant hake is still the Te Rauparaha Haka. You can see videos of these on my fan based website http://www.nzallblacks.net. There are full translations of both hakas.
