Allen Tannenbaums book of photographs entitled New York In The 70s has been assembled into an online gallery. Check the nightlife section in particular - great photos of The Mudd Club, Max's, Studio 54, Plato's Retreat, etc, from back in the days when sex, drugs and bombs were all allowed in clubs. Some images not safe for work.
