Check out this amazing political ad from the German Anarchist Pogo Party: Link (mp4 video file for download). Instead of the usual empty political promises, the party's campaign spot splices together scenes of debauched revellers smashing furniture, children playing with axes, and groups of couples kissing and groping each other. The best part is that the Hamburg-based group gets national airtime for free, due to German campaign laws, and despite some outrage over the spot, it will continue to air nationally. Here's a link to the German Anarchist Pogo Party website, and here's the Reuters story on them. Thanks Bill Z!
pfah. big deal; that's exactly the government we have now. minus any fun, of course.

For years in New Zealand - up until about 2000 or so - we had a party who contested every election called the McGillicuddy Serious Party. Their platform was always the same, and simple enough - The Great Leap Backwards; to 'return' NZ to a feudal, clan-based, pre-industrial society. Whenever they appeared in public they invariably wore mediaeval attire and threw cream pies at each other. After viewing this post, I wish to GOD we had had state-funded political advertising in New Zealand. Never thought I'd say this, but Go Germany!!
