In Lemmy's autobio "White Line Fever," He refer's to these guys as the "Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band.

Is that right? Same people?

Spastic Corndog

Yeah, the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band was the band's original name and shortened to Bonzo Dog Band later.

First album has a tune titled "Deathcab For Cutie," about Eddie Cochran, by the way.

Effwit

The Bonzos appeared in the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour movie performing "Death Cab For Cutie."

The bands original name was actually The Bonzo Dog Dada Band. Problem was, too many people didn't know of Dada or what it was and the band got so fed up of being asked, they decided to change the Dada part to Doo-Dah instead for peace and quiet! The Doo-Dah part was also eventually dropped as time went on and their final album "Lets Make Up And Be Friendly" was credited to The Bonzo Dog Band.

Thanks for the mention of my Sonic Pollutions blog! Much appreciated! Incidentally this clip also has the recently knighted Sir David Jason introducing the band after he pushes Terry Jones offscreen. A huge name in Britain, though I personally can't stand the guy and think hes very over-rated!
Best Wishes,

Way back in 1969 the Bonzos did an interview at ...of all places...WFMU! Me and my buddies, who were all big Bonzo fans hopped in the car and we got there just in time to meet Legs, Neil and Viv as they were leaving! I don't think we heard the interview, but Viv and I talked of turtles and other very important things and he was ready to go turtle hunting with us until Neil reminded him that they had a gig to go to. True story! I wonder if that interview still exists in the WFMU vaults??

The Bonzo's reunion gig at the Astoria in London was a great night. reminds me of what we've missed all those years the band haven't toured. Wonderful to see so many top commedians pay tribute (and perform). I hear the Bonzo's are touring again soon. Don't know dates yet.

I've now come across this website promoting the Bonzo's UK tour in November. See you there.
