A study in contrasts: these two videos have been hanging out on my hard drive for too long, and now I realize that they belong together.
First, Howlin Wolf rocking out to Dust My Broom at the ever-swank Pro-Tec-Tive Club, complete with a sax player: [download video, 10 megs, Quicktime file] via dailymotion
And here are The Three Suns cheese-rocking to Beyond The Blue Horizon in a studio somewhere: [download video, 6 megs, MP4 file] via Prelinger.
forget howlin wolf - i NEED a 3-dvd box set of the interpretive dancer in the fedora.
also, you can tell the club is a class act by the way they clip their potatochip display to the venetian blinds.

And that's The One Son (House, that is) doing the crazy drunk hand-dance I do b'lieve...

Yep, that's Son House. And it's not a club - Alan Lomax staged this shoot in the house where the black artists stayed at the Newport Folk Festival. I'm pretty sure the woman next to House is Mabel Hillary from the Georgia Sea Island Singers.
