If all goes well, this series is about to get very tasty indeed with a pile of German 70's rock videos coming very soon that are going to flip yer collective wig, but here's a rarely seen clip from the Rattles for "The Witch" that should get you primed. I first heard this track on the Decca 3CD anthology Legend of a Mind which came out a few years back,
though it was a pretty huge hit across Europe in 1970 including in the UK where it was a very rare occurrence for a German band to penetrate the top 20. The Rattles did time at the Star Club in Hamburg right alongside the Beatles, and progged it up as the 60's came to a close. Besides being a cool tune, the video here grabbed me especially mainly due to the Grace Slick-in-hysterics mode stage moves of the singer and the weird special visual effects cast over the band. After their quick international fame subsided, the band kept it up for a few more years in the early 70's mainly concentrating on the German market. Here's the video of "The Witch" (21MB mpeg) and also the MP3.
