You know a particular style of music has run it's course when someone uses it as the template to re-imagine old classical music workhorses (see "A Fifth of Beethoven"). Consider this album by Valjean (Johns), a classically-trained pianist probably best-known for performing the theme to the TV show "Ben Casey". Crazy, daddy-o, crazy.

Groovy! These cuts are excellent. I would love to make a video to this with mashers mashing in full 18th century costumes.

Worth it just for the cheerfully goofy figure in the cover illustration.

My dad had this album (probably still does). When I was a kid, Hungarian Mash #5 was the theme to my personal international spy fantasy.

Wild! I'm a pianist too and I wish I could play a gig with that raunchy sax player on Rondo alla turca.
