I'm just back from Hollywood (more on that later) and feeling prescient:
BEST ACTOR: DiCarprio and Gosling don't have a chance. Peter O'Toole a sentimental favorite. Will Smith could grab it. But my choice is FOREST WHITAKER as Idi Amin in The Last King Of Scotland.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: This is down to Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine) and Eddie Murphy (Dreamgirls). Arkin will take the statuette for a lifetime of brilliant work.
BEST ACTRESS: Helen Mirren continues her winning streak for The Queen.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: The Acadamy loves a breakout newcomer: Jennifer Hudson, Dreamgirls.
BEST DIRECTOR: Martin Scorsese finally gets the nod.
BEST PICTURE: As does his nominated film, The Departed.

Ken, I only wish I had - as Fatherflot suggested - put some money on these picks! Overall, I went 15 out of 21 awards handed out last night...
