"A police car and a screaming siren,
A pneumatic drill and ripped up concrete,
A baby wailing and stray dog howling,
at any given moment could be what you hear on 'FMU,
and that's Entertainment... that's Entertainment..."
Ted Leo performed a WFMU-ified version of The Jam's "That's Entertainment" on The Best Show on WFMU this past Tuesday, March 13th, 2007 - Listen to the mp3 here. (6.7 MB)
It was performed during The Best Show on WFMU's second Marathon show for 2007, hosted by Tom Scharpling, who was joined by Radio Thrift Shop proprietress Laura Cantrell on the MC microphone. The gracious Mr. Leo performed a number of songs during the show, in exchange for pledges from listeners. Songs included:
Rock and Roll Dreams (Gas Station Dogs)
Radio Ga Ga (Queen)
Colleen (Ted Leo)
Love Vigilantes (New Order, performed with Laura Cantrell)
You Don't Bring Me Flowers Anymore (Barbara Streisand & Neil Diamond, performed with Tom Scharpling)
You can listen to the archive of the entire show by clicking this link (streaming RealAudio). Check out the rest of The Best Show archives here.
Giant thanks to Ted Leo for coming out to play and helping Tom and Laura to make the show a big success!
And....! If you want more live Rock and Roll madness, stay tuned for the Yo La Tengo Request-athon on Friday night (8-11pm EST), or the Grand Finale starring the Hoof and Mouth Sinfonia, starting Sunday night at 7pm EST!
You read the collective mind of the phone room crew this evening! We were wondering why no one had put this up yet. Ted Leo rocks.
