It's time for another installment of Live Catch, Beware
Of The Blog's weekly guide to live music in WFMU's New York/New Jersey
broadcast area.
The big show this week is undoubtedly the Boredoms' 77BOADRUM spectacular, a 77 minute performance for 77 drummers at 7:00pm on 7/7/07. The show begins at 4:00pm on Saturday at the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, with Soft Circle and First Nation opening. You might still be able to register for free tickets here.
The free concert series at McCarren Park Pool continues this Sunday with performances by Dan Deacon, Erase Errata, The Octopus Project, and WFMU alum OCDJ. Another free and WFMU-related event will take place on Tuesday night at Zebulon: A release party for the new Talibam! album on Acapulco Rodriguez's Azul Discografica label. The band will play live and so will Philip Gayle, with AR himself manning the turntables. Lungfish founder Daniel Higgs, whose solo album Ancestral Songs on the Holy Mountain label wowed many a WFMU DJ last year, also has a show on Tuesday night. He'll be playing at Don Pedro's, a Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg.

Wednesday night brings yet another great free show, Spoon at Rockefeller Park. If that doesn't suit your fancy, you can catch FMU favorites Deerhunter and Blues Control sharing a Wednesday night bill at the Bowery Ballroom. Finally, shambolic pop geniuses caUSE co-MOTION! will take the stage on Thursday night at the Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn. Here's a track from one of their terrific 7" records on the What's Your Rupture? label:
