Ladies and Gentlemen, more from the inimitable Dora Hall!
I don't dig on the hate for Dora promulgated in some parts. She's not great, but she's no Mrs. Miller, either. And I've got a lot of love for these particular recordings, as these are the versions of these songs I listened to when I was growing up - I found the 45 at my grandmother's place, in a stack of 45s that once belonged by my mother and uncle's childhood and teenaged selves.

So I'm listening to this on a friend's laptop, and through the tinny speakers, the sound quality sounds EXACTLY like this record used to sound coming out of the tinny speakers on the cheap plastic 1960s kid's record player I originally listened to this record on every time I visited my grandmother. Wow. Now THAT'S some primo nostalgia. :)
I loved to watch that half-rainbow logo go 'round and 'round and 'round 45 times a minute...

When I was 7 or 8 years old I obtained 3 or 4 Dora Hall singles. I have this hazy recollection of receiving them through the mail,
as part of some free offer or promotion. They've since disappeared; possibly victims of my adolescent experiments
with firecrackers, gasoline, and immolating plastic models.(and testing the flight characteristics of vinyl discs)
I did play the shit out of Dora's version of "5 O'Clock world", however.

Dora Hall was the wife of the Solo paper cup CEO -- you'd send the company proofs of purchase, they'd send you Dora Hall records...

If they're out there somewhere, try and dig up the insane 4 or 5 TV specials that Dora did during the 70s. Those also were available through proofs of purchase. Holy crap, those are unbelievable!

I remember her children's specials from the 1970's and even used to own a double-LP called TONY THE PONY as a kid. I know a lot of folks hated her, but I grew up listening to her crazed brand of music. Maybe that's what's wrong with me now. Does anyone have any of her Children's albums still?

I was just watching I've got a secret, Monday morning at 2:30 a.m. CDT There were 9 children that came out and their secret was that their Grandmother had just signed a record contract as a Rock Singer. The panel did not guess the secret. Dora came out and sang a cover of the Len Barry Song, "1,2,3". She really wasn't that bad.
