Long before the ipod and a few years after the blockbuster success of the Walkman, Audio-Technica devised yet another approach to listening to music on the go: Mister Disc. While not ideal for jogging I could see this coming in handy at the record fair.
in Japan this was called the 'Sound Burger.'

I own one of these. Works on 2 "c" batteries. Performs Great.

Indeed they were called "Sound Burgers" here in the UK as well. I recall them appearing round the early 80s. I know for a fact there are record collectors who do carry these devices to record fairs to audition discs. A neat little invention!

I remember seeing these at J&R Music World back in the mid-1980s. Now somebody has to post information on the linear-tracking turntables.
