With a nervous but studied line style somewhere between Gary Panter and Alice Neel, Taylor Mckimens paints figures, piles of garbage and tangled electrical cords that rival the dark and ridiculous existential humor of Phillip Guston. Mckimens somehow manages to convey the figurative qualities of a messy squirt of ketchup on a hot dog as well as transforming musculature into a clot of cords, usually encased in a pair of filthy underwear.
