Good morning! It's time again to turn our eyes and ears to a selection of bands from WFMU's gargantuan myspace friends list. Here's the deal in case you missed the previous installments: listen to the song, check the profile if you want, and then vote!
The band or bands who get the most "Pump it" votes each week will be forever exalted in the form of my FIRST EVER MARATHON PREMIUM called "In MySpace, No One Can Hear You Scream", which will be offered during WFMU's 50th Anniversary fundraising Marathon (starting February 25th!!). With the artists' gracious permission, the winning tracks from the 1st portion of this year will be compiled onto one CD, packaged lovingly, and mailed to your home in exchange for some dosh for the station's perilously emaciated coffers. Last week's winners included The Steeds, The Wiggins and Hot Cha Cha - congratulations!
Who will be next? It's up to you!!
"Conquistadores" by The Wobblies (This band played on Pat Duncan's show back around 2000. According to their profile, they sound like "the ripping of the fabric of spacetime")
"Gravy" by Eleanor Roosevelt (Americana music from St. Louis Missouri, put out by the Skuntry Music label)
"Billy the Kidney" by Sirs (This post-punk outfit from Chicago say they are influenced by "factory smog")
"AAchhhn" by Noeud (This "blues/crunk/lounge" act from Bermuda list People Like Us as one of their influences)
"Deep Kuver" (NSFW) by Poetique (Hiphop from Ulster County, New York)
"The Big Green and Silver Frame" by Jocelyn Chabanis (One man band from Paris, France)
"Theme from the Brill Bedroom" by Corin Ashley (Acoustic pop from the former bassist for The Pills.)
"Brother Love" by Blueberry ("Lounge/ Classic Rock" from NYC)
"Grist Mill" by Alger Hiss ("Rock/ Experimental/ Healing & Easy Listening" from NYC)
I love the Wobblies!
Sirs sound just like The Lovedolls.
Voting now!

Golly gee-willickers, an Americana band from St. Louis...imagine that. DUMPED! Wobblies and Sirs get props, though.
