Last week, I posted a much loved record of mine and explained the mystery behind it. Thanks to everyone who responded with guesses as to the performers on the record, but the most thanks to the person who directed me to The Kiddie Rekord King. I received the following reply within days:
I do know who the singer is, and in fact, have the record in my collection. The female singer is Toby Deane (who, sadly, died a couple of years ago in the UK). She is one of my favorite female voices from my vintage kiddie music collection, even though I did not have her records as a kid. Even though she was in her 20s or 30s when she recorded this, she has that Shirley Temple little girl quality in her voice.
This record appeared on the VOCO label in 1951 as a 7" single and a 10" single. It was reissued on a subsidiary label, Tops For Tots, about two years later. The male voice is Bob Mallit. While I have several records with Toby Deane, I have only one other with Bob Mallit.
Ha! Should've just asked Irwin.
