Here's a single I came across God knows where, nearly 25 years ago. It's by the well known Hugo and Luigi, producers of many, many hit singles in the 1960's, and in addition, the named artists on a large number of singles and albums. However, those releases tend to be MOR-type recordings, and in years of searching, I've never found another Hugo and Luigi record that sounds remotely like this one. One song, "Yalaloo", is fairly corny in structure and performance, but it's a cute kids singalong, and one that I enjoyed immediately upon hearing it. The other side, though, titled "Watusi Wedding", is.... well, have a listen.
1.) Yalaloo - Hugo and Luigi (MP3)
2.) Watusi Wedding - Hugo and Luigi (MP3)
There exists a music video of sorts, which I shot in 1985, featuring my two best pals improvising a rather abstract, wordless sketch to the tune of "Watusi Wedding". Something about an unheard man on the street interview, a reel of tape, a very odd small doll and some out-of-control dancing....
You really should post the video, Bob. It's as weird as the record itself!! Thrall-ki!!!
