In Finland there are always shadows, even in the middle of summer, and I don't think hot sidewalks are a problem either. However, all of this did not stop a Finnish singer named "Danny" to take on the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer In The City". A great music video, complete with gigantic letters, tambourines, go-go dancers, and Finnish street scenes.

In Finland there are almost no shadows in the middle of the summer, because the sun does not set at all above the arctic circle in midsummer (of course there may always be clouds...). And yes, the sidewalks can get hot too. And when they do, polar bears and penguins all have to get off the streets and find some cooler place to chill. That's what Danny is singing about in the song.

I love the fact that WFMU is so Finn friendly. I am of Finnish descent and my girlfriend is from Pori (a city on the western coast of Finland, home of the jazz festival)... Kitos! More Hummpa!
