Now that Thanksgiving is history, there is no question that the season for Yuletide tunes is upon us. Hands down, the best Christmas disc I've heard in quite some time is the Barbary Coasters' Hark! Tidings Of Barbary Joy (available here). The Barbary Coasters, northern California's premiere dance and show band, have been doing business out of the Oakland/San Francisco area for several years now.
Fans of the sounds of early 1960s West Coast hot rod, surf and rock & roll music, especially those with a penchant for the sounds created by producer/songwriter Gary Usher, should find this release particularly tasty. Here are a couple of my favorites from the disc.

And this one's for Dave the Spazz:
Bravo for sharing this -- went and bought the CD so I can play "I Want A Monkey For Christmas" for my 6-year-old nephew. Good (holiday) times.
Cheers,
Rupe

That's awesome... and their album has a whole 15 songs of this stuff...
I'm mighty tempted.

more good holiday times: there is a band that takes Misfits classics, and through no small degree of northern magic, turns them into yuletide classics that the fiends of all ages can enjoy. that band is the Chrisfits.
