It's well established that the best way to avoid unwanted interactions with drunk relatives during Christmas is to escape to a room with an uninhabited television and immerse yourself in bizarre holiday specials. Christmas, along with Halloween, is the only time of year that normally staid corporate television decides to air old films, old cartoons, and in the wee hours, sitcoms that are no longer shown. Here's a sample for you this week, with more to come soon.
Dragnet Christmas (1952)
Dennis the Menace Christmas (1960)
The Andy Griffith Show Christmas (1960)
Hazel Christmas (1961)
Mr. Ed Christmas (1963)
Petticoat Junction Christmas (1963)
The Doris Day Show Christmas (1970)
The Great Santa Switch starring The Muppets (1970)
Happy Days Christmas (1974)
There are TONS more to come and if you can't wait til next week you can check in on a daily basis here to find the latest...
Ha! That promo clip links to the whole shebang broken out in 10 minute increments; damn I love that cartoon. Everything from the cool jazz score to the genuinely funny/sweet dialog. Can't say that I share your passion for the sitcoms, but that cartoon is the real thing.

I must say I really enjoyed the old Happy Days show. It's one I always remembered for Fonzie sitting there at his sad little table, eating his sad little can of Raviolis. That was before Fonzie took over the show and it all went downhill long before he 'jumped the shark'.

Kliph! I'm surprised you didn't mention the delightfully awful Star Wars Holiday Special.

Anything past the initial 2 minutes 40 seconds is recommended only for the headstrong. The opening credits are probably the most amusing part.

Thanks, Kliph, great post.
Mickey, the Star Wars clip has been yanked. Do you know where else it might be?
