We're having a little art sale over at Printed Matter in Chelsea starting this Saturday, Dec. 6th until Dec. 13th. Please join us for the opening party this Saturday from 5 pm to 7pm which will include a 2 hour musical extravaganza courtesy our very own $mall Change. Printed Matter is located at 195 Tenth Avenue in Chelsea (between 21st and 22nd Street).
All proceeds from this sale will go towards hoisting a new booster transmitter up at 4 Times Square in Manhattan which will at long last allow freeform programming to flow freely across the 5 boroughs.
I just got back from our first art hanging session with DJ Trouble not too long ago and the show is looking great! We've assembled a really top notch group of artists for the benefit which we're really excited about. More often than not one seldom sees Chelsea "fine art" mixing with the Fecal Face / Beautiful Losers / Juxstapoz / Arkitip crowd and we're really pleased to be bringing lots of different things together under one roof much in the same way our music programming mixes lots of disparate things together.
EDITIONS BY THE FOLLOWING ARTISTS ARE NOW ON SALE AT: art.wfmu.org:
Eine / Nicole Eisenman / Dan Funderburgh / Chris Johanson / Alexander Ross / James Siena / Jim Torok
ALL OTHER ARTWORK IS ON SALE NOW AT PRINTED MATTER (AND ON THEIR WEBSITE - SEARCH FOR "WFMU") INCLUDING WORK BY:
Brian Alfred / Tauba Auerbach / Sarah Bedford / Nina Bovasso / Olaf Breuning / Tom Burkhardt / Damien Correll / Ellie Curtis / Michael Dumontier + Neil Farber / Mitch Epstein / Jad Fair / Kyle Field / Matthieu Gafsou / Gelitin / Luis Gispert / Stuart Hawkins / Mark Warren Jacques / Daniel Johnston / Mel Kadel / Mike Kelley / Terence Koh / Michael Krueger / Greg Lamarche / Christian Marclay / Richard Prince / Steve Powers / Andrea Robbins + Max Becher / Cindy Sherman / Casey Jex Smith / Geoffrey Todd Smith / Deb Sokolow / Swoon / Scott Teplin / Will Yackulic.
Recession pricing will be very much in effect so try to come early!
Amazing (and pretty accurate) "WFMU" tower art by the great Scott Teplin.
Also... I just came across a great recent interview with participating artist Mike Kelley. Lots of good spieling about music, copyright law and the art bubble among other things. A good read.
Where is it?
