Perhaps no other performer in the 20th century made more awkward statements than Jerry Lewis. His list of hits and misses is unequaled, and I mean both professionaly and off the stage. Often when Jerry was out of his bombastic character, appearing as himself, he seemed somewhat incapable of ... well I don't know of what ... but it was always awkward. Take for instance this 1967 appaearance on the game show Password hosted by Allen Ludden. On the show a celebrity was teamed up with a non-famous contestant. Oh, that poor, poor contestant playing with Jerry Lewis. Lewis looks like he'd like to murder the guy. Watch the whole episode here.
Why is he wearing a lady's watch (look at the first minute of the clip)?

Lewis just seems like a very impatient person. He always seemed a little bored on his Telethons, too. I like this clip of him and Dean.

Some enterprising person -- maybe you! -- should try to tack down some of the "regular" people who appeared on "Password" (if they're still alive) for their memories of playing alongside the celebs.

Jerry has been known as 'difficult' to work with and he is a perfectionist. He obviously wants to be in charge of everything and thinks he's the smarter one. They won the game and Jerry still looks like he thinks the contestant is a bonehead. If Jerry was that impatient, why did he agree to do this game show? This show was always one of my favorites and I love seeing the ones from the 60's like this one with all the stars who have passed away. Jerry is still with us.... I have heard so many stories over the years of how Jerry is a very angry person and often takes it out on unsuspecting people and hurts their feelings. Many people who have experienced his rages don't like him anymore and think he a total ass and a male Diva. I have always heard that all clowns have a dark side, and Jerry has certainly shown his a few times, even on hius beloved Telethons.
