Nahid Akhtar appeared on the Pakistani film scene in 1974 and her voice pretty much ruled it until her 2000 retirement, running the gamut of every kind of style. "Toune Kaha Aa Aa Aa" (MP3) kicks out some blasted psychedelic organ/fuzzed out wah and over-the-top accompanying Yma Samac-like growls, and if anything it's worth mentioning because there's a killer collection of Lollywood sounds due in April on Andy Votel's Finders Keepers label. The Sound of Wonder, like Pakistani film music, is dominated by Akhtar (who basically appears on 11 of the 15 tracks of the collection) appearing alongside musician M. Ashraf who discovered her as a teen and catapulted her to fame. Finders Keepers offers up a few more MP3s as well here.
"Toune Kaha Aa Aa Aa" Kicks ass!
Thanx for the alternative music, big thumb up man!

Yeah, that song went straight to my crotch. I'd love to crash my jet plane right between her twin towers, if you know what I mean. What a great voice!
