From our good friends at the always worthwhile CartoonBrew.com comes this 1961 Paramount short that features a healthy dose of chronic cigarette smoking and a healthy dose of sexism not to mention some seriously god awful animation. Is this a pro-smoking or anti-smoking cartoon?
Charlie, Cecil and Mrs Butts are all dead now anyway. And yet, the Dalai Lama is still alive.

The animation isn't that bad; it's merely a watered-down attempt at the UPA style.

The voice acting is not very good.

I enjoyed this cartoon quite a bit, actually. I forgot about the Paramount cartoons of this type.
That sounds like Eddie Lawrence, "The Old Philosopher," doing the male voices.

What a lovely wife Charlie Butts has!

The nicotine addiction reminds me of myself when I was on drugs. You crave it and will do ANYTHING for that next hit of dope! Nicotine is as dangerous a drug as crack! I'm so glad I'm clean and sober for 3 and a half years now. And no, I never smoked cigarettes! I loathe them!
