I recently went to San Francisco for the first time in my adult life. I mostly just wanted to get out of town and headed west without any plans besides trying to see some good music. I went to a bunch of shows, some good, some just okay. The Impediments, a group of punx under 20, were pretty cool if you like it loud and fast and don't mind getting beaned with an empty beer can, The Touch-Me-Nots were poppy and twangy and made me smile, Larry And The Angriest Generation were cute as a button and made me want to twist-and-shout, but the band that really stood out was one I saw the last night I was in town. I was planning on seeing The Fresh & Onlys at a bar called Amnesia anyway, but a friend of mine strongly reccommended I get there in time to see the opener, The Aerosols. I took the advice, and I was glad I did.
The Aerosols are awesome psych-pop that is super catchy and is definitely reminsicent of old Elephant Six bands (especially Olivia Tremor Control, Apples in Stereo, and earlier Of Montreal) that made people crazy back in the late 90s, and, if we want to get real, actual psych rock like 13th Floor Elevators and the poppier Pink Floyd. Pysch rock is back y'all! I'm so sick of non-guitar focused music! More psych! More rock! More fun!
Here are two tracks from the most recent Aerosols CDR! Enjoy!
I hope you enjoyed San Francisco as an adult Pop Jew! Thanks for returning with music, cuz I'd never heard any of these bands before, except for the awesome Impediments, who, speaking of...well talk is cheap so check this out:
http://freemusicarchive.org/music/The_Impediments/ featuring a live set from Terre T's Cherry Blossom Clinic.
Also, speaking of the Bay Area, Ty Segall is live on Terre T's show this Saturday 3-6pm ET

I really like what I heard - is there anyway to get their CD-R(s)?

Yup, we have CD's for sale. We have two; an older one which is a full-length for $10 (it's a bit noisier and druggier sounding) and the new one which is three tunes for $5. The two songs posted on this blog are off of the newer much poppier CD.
You can e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll give you my mailing address.
