Reminding everyone to tune in for live sets from Parc Del Forum in sunny Barcelona on May 28-29 as WFMU returns on invitation from the awesome Primavera Sound festival. We'll be pre-empting regular programming from Noon-11pm on Friday the 28th and 1pm-Midnight on Saturday the 29th (the festival starts Thursday, but we'll be pre-recording some of the sets that day), with full performances! Plus play by play and some interviews between sets with assorted FMU staffers in attendance in our palatial broadcast tent on the fairway (we namedropped Joe Franklin for an upgrade to the giant Thank God It's Friday-style saucer/bubble booth overlooking the masses but it didn't fly unfortunately). On our approved broadcast list so far: Wire, the Fall, Pavement, the Clean, Endless Boogie, Sic Alps, Superchunk, New Pornographers, Mission of Burma. Not too shabby! Many more TBA as we work out permissions, but take a gander at the wealth that is the Primavera roster here: Gary Numan, the OhSees, Diplo, Dum Dum Girls, Van Dyke Parks, Liquid Liquid, Lee Perry, the Psychic Paramount, Marc Almond, Condo Fucks, Jeffrey Lewis, Michael Rother (Neu)/Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth)/Aaron Mullan (Tall Firs), the Pixies, the Slits. And a ton more. We'll keep you updated on WFMU's site, Twitter, and Facebook when we get down
to specific broadcast times and artists. And like last year, we'll attempt to archive as many artists for streaming and hopeful MP3 downloads for the Free Music Archive, but again, all is pending approval after the broadcasts. Hope you can tune in, and if you're an FMU listener at the fest, please do stop by, it was great to meet all our European friends last year (even the tripping guy from Liechtenstein at 5AM who wouldn't leave until we promised to play Middle of the Road). We're thrilled to be asked to be the US radio ambassadors once again for this great festival, it's really one worth crossing the Atlantic for without a doubt. More to come!
I will see you guys over there. I hope that you can put them up in the archive too for later re visitation. Any idea where your tent will be?
