Jim Behrle, the poet and cartoonist who has riled up the literary world with his blogs since the early '00s, is dropping in on Thunk Tank with Bronwyn and Jay. John Allen will play a live set from the Black Swans on his web show. This folk/soul/blues group out of Columbus, Ohio have a new release, Words Are Stupid, out on St. Ides/Secretly Canadian. It will happen Wednesday 6/19, from 6 to 9 AM (web-only).
Diamondsnake on EFD Whaaaaaaaat!!! Evan "Funk" Davies welcomes Diamondsnake, the pop-metal collaboration between Phil Costello (Satanicide, Valley Lodge) and Moby. Rounded out by drummer Tomato of Sound of Urchin and mostly-bassist funnyman Dave Hill of Valley Lodge, these fellows are playing their first-ever gig at the Highline Ballroom on the 17th. Catch them here the night before, Wednesday 6/16, from 9 PM to midnight.
Finally, frenetic garage rockers the A-Bones grace the Cherry Blossom Clinic with Terre T. on Saturday, 6/19 from 3 to 6 PM. They will celebrate their most recent album Not Now! (Norton Records) having been named one of Terre's Top 10 of 2009. OK, they may also promote their upcoming Rocks Off Booze Cruise around Manhattan, taking place the evening of Wednesday June 23rd.
