Wolf Eyes (l.), the awesome noise project out of Detroit, will be joining Brian Turner for a very special performance that features Richard Pinhas on guitar. Pinhas (r.), a force and influence in new wave and ambient music since the 70s, fronted the band Heldon and is regarded as the "father" of French electronic music. To boot, Wolf Eyes' lineup will feature original band member Aaron Dilloway, who has been on the sidelines for a few years. Listen to this event Tuesday 10/12, from 3 to 6 PM -- it is sure to be a fascinating time in our lives.

On Irwin's show Wednesday, illustrator Rick Meyerowitz will speak about his years on staff at National Lampoon -- and the tremendous influence that publication has had on American culture, from Animal House to SNL to Simpsons (to name a few). Meyerowitz's book, DRUNK STONED BRILLIANT DEAD: The Writers and Artists Who Made the National Lampoon Insanely Great, came out last month. Hear the interview 10/13 from 3 to 6 PM.

Friday afternoon, Billy Jam devotes a show to the women of hip hop. His Female Hip-Hop Special seeks to address the problems of inequality that women rap artists continue to face, in a genre where the ratio of men to women remains uneven and images of women are too often one-dimensional or insulting. In 2010, where are females in hip hop headed? The show will feature music of the best female rappers from throughout hip hop's history, with guests including Rah Digga, Melissa Czarnik, Jean Grae (pictured), and Ayana Soyini. On Put the Needle on the Record, 10/15, from 3 to 6 PM.

Last but by no means least, on Saturday, Terre T brings punk rock legends PURE HELL to the Cherry Blossom Clinic. Hailed as the first all-black punk band in that white-dominated NYC scene (they are originally from Philly), Pure Hell were denied the exposure they deserved because their debut album Noise Addiction remained unreleased for nearly 30 years. It's available now, and they are actively sharing their sound with the world -- go hear them at the Blockley Pourhouse in Philadelphia on Oct. 15th, and at Europa in Brooklyn on Oct. 16th. Listen to their set on the CBC 10/16, from 3 to 6 PM. Watch this video of them at the Knitting Factory, also.

Has it been a while since you heard anything off The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T (1953 film written by Dr. Seuss) soundtrack? It had been for me. Jeff of Noise and Syrup took care of that recently with the song "Dream Stuff," and then played the dreamy/scary "Daily Prayer Book" by Hoor-Paar-Kraat, one of Wm. Berger's recent guests. It happened late at night! I enjoyed it! Here is the pop-up link.
