Pay attention to this opportunity to help keep WFMU aloft! This Wednesday, with any luck, station manager Ken will be suspended above the WFMU parking lot aided by helium balloons. Every $1000 of listener contributions will fill up another balloon, until Ken becomes airborne! THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING AND NOT A JOKE. Let's see how high in the air we can make Ken climb: pledge online now, or listen and call in on Wednesday 12/8, from 11 AM to noon. (Pregame show begins at 9 AM.) We'll also host a live video feed of the procedure so you don't miss a thing.

On Monday, Irene Trudel welcomes Bridgeport, CT-based combo Caravan of Thieves for a live set of swingin' gypsy party music. Catch their debaucherous performance on her show 12/6, from noon to 3 PM, and/or at Bowery Electric on the 11th.

Get super-thrilled, next, on Wednesday for the Sights on the Evan "Funk" Davies Show. The Sights have come from Detroit with a new album, Most of What Follows Is True, out now on the Alive label, and will be playing on WFMU for the fifth time. Hear their brand of passionate, power-poppy rock and roll on 12/8, from 9 PM to midnight, and see if you can resist it.

Performance artists Title TK, "a band that talks about music rather than playing it," will be paying a visit to Awesome New Place on the Wednesday/Thursday overnight. Listen as Cory Arcangel, Howie Chen (of New Humans), and Alan Licht all improvise -- either by making music or just referring to it -- and converse in a very meta way with Bennett and each other. If you are intrigued, as you should be, tune in Thursday 12/9, from 3 to 6 AM.

On MCoQ, Wm. Berger's guest will be Isa Christ, who plans to "exploit the radio waves and format" with a unique performance. He plugs a table's worth of digital effects into an amp, occasionally using an electric guitar; his live shows have been captivating audiences with an intense physicality as he writhes and trembles, sometimes naked. On the radio the ecstasy is sure to translate. Listen to My Castle of Quiet, Friday 12/10 from midnight to 3 AM.

And on Saturday, Terre T hosts a sweet live set from So Cow. Their new release, Meaningless Friendly, is out on Tic-Tac-Totally, and Brian Kelly's Irish-by-way-of-Korea band are ready to treat us to some of the great Buzzcocks-style pop that's making them famouser and famouser. It will take place on the Cherry Blossom Clinic of 12/11, from 3 to 6 PM. Hooray!

If you want a WFMU-style Leslie Nielsen tribute, look no further than Scott Williams's most recent show. That first set also features Nina Simone's version of "Suzanne," which Scott closed with when DJing live at the Jersey City Record Riot the other day -- it was one of my favvvvzzz from that pleasant time.
