Excitingly, the innovatively caustic White Suns will be coming by Nat Roe's program late at night to perform a live set -- right on the heels of a record release party at Death By Audio for their LP Waking in the Reservoir. Plug in, either live or via archive, to hear the heavy, sludgy rock trio who've been turning so many heads in Brooklyn and all over. Wednesday February 2nd, from 3 to 6 AM!

Music- and art-show curator Kyle Clyde, co-director of the NYC venue Port D'Or, will join Wm. Berger on My Castle of Quiet to share her work, an eponymous noise and performance project. In Wm.'s words, "Sometimes Kyle sounds like vintage Tangerine Dream (think Alpha Centauri and Zeit), at other times like thoughtfully layered, more-than-meets-the ear wall noise." She will provide two live, in-the-moment sets prepared especially for WFMU on Friday, February 4th, from midnight to 3 AM.

On Put the Needle on the Record, Billy Jam returns to California to do a Cali-themed remote broadcast live from the Oakland Museum. On hand will be turntable guests DJ Quest, Pam the Funkstress (l.), DJ Platurn, Mista B, DNZ, Deeandroid & Celskiii, and Mia Moretti. "Put the Needle on the History of the California DJ" will take place from noon to 3 PM local time and is open to the public, so please stop by if you're in the Bay area. Or listen, on Jersey City time, from 3 to 6 PM on Friday the 4th.

And, continuing in the Northern California vein, Rob will welcome San Francisco's all-female Real Vocal String Quartet to Transpacific Sound Paradise. Hear RVSQ apply their expert classical training to not-so-very classical songs: African, Balkan, and bluegrass, to name a few. Their self-titled debut CD is out now, and you can hear them on the radio this Saturday, February 5th, from 6 to 9 PM.

A nice man named John Funke who lives in Boston, host of WMBR's Backwoods, came to Music to Spazz By last week. He and Dave the Spazz, along with Cambridge, MA native Matt Fiveash, played a bunch of sides and made Kennedy jokes for three hours or so. Listen to the archive here -- although I don't know, those guys are ridiculous. By the way, did you know that Dave DJs every Sunday at Union Pool? I went there last night and liked it. Will you go too, some other week?
